I created these images to capture the various stages of love with the assistance of lyrics from the song “Drift” by Alina Baraz and Galimatias.
The goal was to capture feelings of love that are often overlooked.
The feelings captured in these photos begin with the initial heartbreak when someone still deeply misses their significant other.
The second feeling is realizing that one is falling in love with a new person that they initially were never interested in.
The final feeling is wanting a person and not letting anyone else have them, this can be associated with jealousy and desire.
The lyrics that support these ideas are, “I only miss you when the sun goes down”, “Oh, your voice is my favorite sound”, and “What's a king without a queen”.
I drew inspiration from our “What is love” and “Lyrically Speaking” projects.
I used the same model and very similar style of photography as a way to show what happened to her after she was staring and contemplating about herself in the mirror.
These images are supposed to act as a continuation of her life and how she moves on from a bad relationship into a healthier one where she is respected.
These images reflect heartbreak, rediscovery, and new love.
The most important aspects of the photos are the flowers which represent continuous growth.
The fonts are in slightly different sizes to show that certain feelings are stronger than others.
The images are different shapes to convey that love comes in all different shapes and sizes.
The images also show the model's lower half, top half, and final full body to show that she is coming full circle in her life.
