Through the Eyes of a Child

What object did you choose and why?
I chose to photograph a baby swing. I chose it because as a child the swings were my favorite part of the park. As a child, I would always run towards the swing set first. However, if there was nobody else to swing with me then I would feel sad and lonely. As I got the older the ongoing joke between me and my friends was to see who could fit in the baby swing since it was so small.
What compositional elements dod you choose? How did the compositional elements add to the meaning or purpose of the photograph?
I chose to do a worm's eye perspective as well as the rule of thirds. I chose to do a lower perspective because it resembled a child running over to the swing wanting to sit on it. However, since the swing was so high up it needed assistance to climb on, however, nobody is there to help them.
Do you think you were successful in translating your thoughts into a visual form? What aspects of this photo led you to this conclusion?
I think I could have done a better job in translating my thoughts into a visual form. The end result looks good however it is not exactly what I had envisioned in my head. The compositional elements were not perfectly captured and the swing does not have enough emotion applied towards it.
What would you do differently if you did it again?/ What would make it better?
I would go to a location that had better lighting and perspective. I would make the perspective a little lower, more like that of a child's. I might add hands or make it look as if someone is holding onto the chains of the swing almost as if someone is getting onto the swing.
